I hate thieves and I think that when they are caught the victim should get the hit them in the gonads with a croquet mallet until they feel better. Skyhook Wireless has announced that it is powering a new application to help owners of stolen or lost Android phones.

The app is called SIM checker and sends alerts to a predefined email and phone number if a different SIM card is inserted into the handset. The app was nominated for the top five Android security apps recently.

The app is available for free on the Android market now. The alerts sent to the phone number or email give the location of the stolen phone.

  1. This is fantastic! Can't wait to download it.
