Sometimes it’s due to laziness, but sometimes it’s also because of necessity. Sending messages to colleagues or loved ones without necessarily typing something out has become not just a luxury, but almost a requirement. With the power of two words, “Ok Google” we are now able to send messages, even without lifting a finger. You can use this messaging option on some of the most popular apps like Vibe, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.

Just like you would when you do your search or add reminders, all you have to do is say something like “Ok Google, send a Viber message to John and it will then prompt you for what you’d like to say in your message, something like “Please email me your proposal ASAP”. It will then confirm with you if you want to send the message to your contact. Just say yes, and it will go through.

You can also just do it in one go, like “Ok Google send a WhatsApp message to Anna: Please don’t forget to bring the book I’m borrowing”. It will always prompt you if you really want to send the message, to avoid wrongly sent messages (or so we hope).

The messaging apps included in the initial launch are Viber, WhatsApp, WeChat, Telegram, and NextPlus. All you have to do is make sure you have the latest version of the app and of the Google app. For now, English is the only language recognized, but they assured users that they are working on bringing other language options, as well as adding more messaging apps.
