NVIDIA SHIELD April update now available for download

The latest update has arrived for the NVIDIA SHIELD. This one is listed as being SHIELD Software Update 72 and it will measure in at a bit more than 460MB in size. Specifically, at 464.4MB. More important though is what the update is bringing. This time around users can expect quite a bit dealing with GameStream to include remote streaming and notebook support.

Amazon Dash makes grocery delivery easier than ever

Amazon has rolled out Dash, a device that makes it easier to order groceries from their Amazon Fresh service. Currently limited to a few West Coast cities, Fresh offers the same delivery method enjoyed from Amazon proper, it just has foodstuff instead.

AutoCast brings multitasking to Chromecast

Chromecast is great, but when it comes to multitasking, it falls well short. Developer Joao Dias has created a really neat workaround for that shortcoming with AutoCast. using Tasker, AutoCast lets us multitask various things like listening to music while casting pictures. There are even pop-up notifications on your TV screen, making AutoCast a great start to multitasking with Chromecast.

Samsung producing Graphene, the material for flexible displays

All those interesting flexible displays we see now and again at trade shows have one thing in common: they’re not available for purchase. Companies showing the bendable, flexible displays commit to bringing them to retail, but offer no timeline for when that will be. Samsung may have just had the first break, though, and mass production could come sooner rather than later.

Verizon Galaxy S5 now available for pre-order

Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-orders have arrived with Verizon Wireless. The carrier opened the pre-orders this morning, and perhaps more important for some -- this means the pricing and availability date has been confirmed. The handset will begin shipping on April 11th, and it sits priced at $199.99 on a new two-year agreement.

Nest halts sale of smoke detector amidst safety concern

Nest has halted sale of their smoke alarms amidst fears it could be malfunctioning. A feature allowing users to wave at the device to stop an alarm from sounding is the culprit here, with Nest finding the issue internally. Though it’s not clear if the problem exists for users, Nest has remotely disabled the feature for the time being.
