Just as Cyber Monday brings an end to a busy news day in Android, we also finished one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. As we near Android 2.3 Gingerbread we are starting to see more and more powerful devices that should be running the much anticipated OS such as the Motorola Etna/Olympus and the LG Star. Today we also heard word of Android growing market share in Europe and it's disappointing "loyalty" among customers. Check below for a full recap of all of today's stories.

Sharp IS03 gets some Japanese air time with new Lady GaGa Promotion

The Sharp IS03 is known for it's "Retina-like" display (960 x 640 resolution), but now it can be known for something entirely different, Lady Gaga. Android au has just released a series of ads for the device to be aired on Japanese TVs and with it comes a whole lot of Poker Face.

Sharp IS03 sees 450,000 Japanese pre-orders

Sharp's IS03 has reportedly set new pre-order records for Android devices in Japan, with over 250,000 bought online ahead of the smartphone's launch on KDDI. Meanwhile, in-store pre-orders are believed to be in the region of 200,000. The online pre-orders alone make the IS03 five times more popular than the Samsung Galaxy S or Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 in Japan. The figures come courtesy of market research analyst Kei Shimada. The IS03 is notable for its Retina Display-matching 960 x 640 resolution display and a 9.6-megapixel camera. [via Twitter]

KDDI out new ISO4, IS05 and IS06 Android smartphones

Japan has already taunted us with the Sharp IS03; now carrier KDDI is flaunting a further three Android smartphones that look reasonably tempting. Toshiba, Sharp and Pantech are behind the new devices - the REGZA IS04, IS05 and SIRIUSα IS06 respectively - running Android and all toting 1-Seg digital TV tuners. The Toshiba REGZA IS04 has a 4-inch 854 x 480 touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 12.19-megapixel camera and is waterproof. It also has WiFi, Bluetooth and high-speed 3G data, together with a microSD card slot. It'll land in Japan in January 2010, the only drawback being its Android 2.1 OS. The Sharp IS05 and Pantech IS06, meanwhile, get Froyo and 3.4-inch touchscreens (854 x 480 on the IS05, 800 x 480 on the IS06). The IS05 has an 8-megapixel camera, Snapdragon, 720p HD video recording and Bluetooth/WiFi, while the IS06 has a 5-megapixel camera, and will drop in December. [gallery] [via Akihabara News]

Initial thoughts on Sharp’s ISO3

CEATEC is currently in full swing over in Japan, we have seen quite a few new releases in all aspects of technology. One that is generating quite a bit of buzz mainly due to it’s 960 x 640 (retina display without the branding) is the Sharp ISO3.

KDDI Sharp IS03 gets 960 x 640 display, 9.6MP camera

Japanese carrier KDDI has announced its latest Android smartphone, the Sharp IS03, a 2.1 Eclair based handset with a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8650 processor and 9.6-megapixel camera. The KDDI IS03 has a 3.5-inch iPhone 4 matching 960 x 640 touchscreen with a low-power mode that can show status, missed calls and other information without the backlight being active. As for connectivity, there's EVDO Rev.A, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and even infrared, together with GPS and an FM transmitter. Japan's 1-Seg mobile digital TV is also supported, with a pull-out antenna on the top of the phone. The KDDI Sharp IS03 will arrive in Japan at the end of November; no word on if Sharp is planning to release a version for the US or Europe. [via PC Watch]
