Sharp’s IS01 clamshell Android MID has gone up for sale in the US, courtesy of importer Conics. They have the 1GHz Snapdragon MID up at $246; that gets you a 5-inch 960 x 480 capacitive touchscreen, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and dual cameras. Unfortunately the 3G functionality doesn’t work, since it uses a Japanese 3G radio. …
This is the first of two MID’s Sharp promised to release in Japan. The consumer edition should follow suit soon. the developers MID likely released first because Sharp wants the dev’s to make some good app and utilities before it launches to the general public.
At the end of last month we told you about Sharp’s plans to offer two Android MID’s with full QWERTY keyboards. Specs and pictures are here. One of the largest Japanese telephone operators AU is teaming up with Sharp to bring two Android MID’s to the market. The two Android devices will be called the JN-DK01 and the IS01. The JN-DK01 is developer’s edition of the Iso1 which can be used to make alterations to the device and the OS.
