People who’ve been missing the old school pixel computer games of yesteryears have no cause for complaint now as a lot of games with this theme have been coming out the past few months. A lot of developers have been either remaking or reviving those games, or creating their own tribute games and improving on them using the latest technology. Pixel Heroes: Bytes & Magic is something you will play the heck out of, if this is your kind of thing.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it (of course you would!) is to go on a quest to defeat the Sons of Dawn, an ancient cult that will try to do as all great villains do: take over the world with their dark power. You can choose three heroes to go with you on your quest. You will be choosing from among 30 different hero classes, each with different skills and attributes. Each journey you make will be a different one as no game is ever the same (or so they say).

One unique thing this game has is a graveyard of heroes, which is pretty self-explanatory. This game has a permadeath feature so you won’t go playing one character for eternity. You visit the graveyard not just to “pay your respect” but also to see where you went wrong, as they will show statistics of the fallen hero. The game has 13 “mystic and beautifully cruel” dungeons, 3 campaigns that you can unlock, and “completely crazy” NPCs that can actually give you cool stuff to unlock.

The game also has a lot of achievements to unlock, random events, challenges, and other things that make roguelike adventure games fun and addictive. You can buy Pixel Heroes: Bytes & Magic from the Google Play Store for $6.99. It might seem pretty steep, but there are no in-app purchases anymore.
