Samsung Turtle Display

Aside from churning out great phones and tablets, Samsung is also known for making great processors. The South Korean giant used to supply Apple processors for the old models of the iPhone. Samsung used to install Qualcomm processors on flagship phones until this year when the company decided to use its own Exynos. That proved to be a good move because the Galaxy S6 and its other variants are fast and are not overheating.

Samsung isn’t really popular for its display offerings compared to Corning’s Gorilla Glass but they’re good enough. There’s a new display in the works based on a registration sighted. Nothing is official yet but there’s a rumor that Samsung may be ditching Corning soon–similar to its parting ways with Qualcomm. The so-called Turtle Glass is also expected to be used not only on phones and tablets but also on TVs, smartwatches, and other devices.

It may be too early to tell but we might see this Turtle Glass display in the next flagship phone, the Galaxy S7 (codenamed Project Lucky) to be released in 2016. We’ve been hearing a number of rumors and speculations about the next premium Galaxy so we’re excited about that one.

The Turtle Glass display could be really hard and resistant. We’ve been hearing of foldable displays too so maybe they are all related. A super durable foldable display? How about a better curved display? Exciting times ahead for the display industry so I guess we only need to wait and see.
