Samsung has some good news for current and future owners of its HomeSync storage and streaming hub device. This multimedia and storage hub will now support more Android smartphones and tablets, including those not manufactured by Samsung.

Arriving in US markets last October, the Samsung HomeSync is a hub solution that combines a set-top box with a personal cloud storage. Designed with family use in mind, HomeSync allows the creation of 8 individual users and each user can have up to five devices registered in their account. As a set-top box, it connects to a TV via HDMI for displaying photos and films on a large screen.

When the HomeSync launched, it only had support for Samsung’s most recent high end devices, including the Galaxy S 4, Galaxy Note 3, and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition. Now the manufacturer is widening the scope of supported hardware to more devices, both Samsung and non-Samsung ones. All you need is to install the freely available HomeSync app from the download link below.

The Samsung HomeSync sports a spacious 1 TB of private cloud storage. Samsung claims that this will be enough room for photos that are uploaded 10 at a time daily for 82 years, or five minutes of videos uploaded over a span of 10 years.
