Maybe some Galaxy Tab S2 owners did not expect this new development but it’s something that they will probably welcome with open arms. The tablet, released just last year, is finally starting to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, well at least if you’re living in the United States. Given that it is still a fairly new device, then you probably should have expected Samsung to actually update it and bring it to the land of the Marshmallows, where several smartphones and tablets are now living in.

If you own either the 8-inch or 9.7-inch WiFi only variants of the Galaxy Tab S2, then you should make space on your tablet and make sure you have a stable WiFi connection. The update is at 1080.50 MB (a little over 1GB, if you’re bad at math) so you need those two things. Once you’ve finished updating to Marshmallow, then you will be able to enjoy new things, like Google Now On Tap, which allows you to get information about things, without having to leave the current app you’re in to switch to Google Now.

A feature that will surely benefit the Galaxy Tab S2 owners is Doze, which will help you reduce your battery usage as it makes your tablet sleep if it detects you’re not using it. This is pretty important for a tablet this size because its huge screen eats up a lot of your battery life. So you should see some improvements when you’ve updated to Marshmallow.

The update should be rolling out to all Galaxy Tab S2 users in the US soon. But you can also check it manually by going to your settings.

  1. Its about time. Samsung is the worst at providing updates. They are a true joke in the industry. Some tablet gets nonupdates some get the. Updates around the time other companies are pushing the next version.
