Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 (SM-T715)

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is coming. We know it’s true but until the South Korean giant makes an official announcement, we’ll rely on the leaks, tips, and sightings for now. Last month, the LTE version of the tablet was spotted getting WiFi and Bluetooth certifications. Back in February, it was tipped to be even thinner than the iPad Air 2.

Samsung is believed to be rolling out not just one but two premium Android tablets as follow up to the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and Galaxy Tab S 8.4 released almost the same time last year. Rumor has it that new tablets will be known as the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 and Galaxy Tab S2 8.0.

Just yesterday, the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 was given an approval by TENAA, China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center. Features of the Tab S2 8.0 include an 8-inch AMOLED display, 1536 x 2048 pixel resolution, and 4:3 aspect ratio. As for the dimensions, tablet measures 198.2 x 134.5 x 5.4 mm and weighs 260 grams. The 5.4 mm is very thin so it might be considered as the thinnest tablet beating the iPad Air 2.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 will run Android Lollipop and will be powered by a 1.9 GHz octa-core processor. We’re guessing an Exynos 7420 this time. There’s also 3GB RAM, LTE connectivity, 16GB built-in storage, microSD card slot for expansion, an 8 megapixel rear camera, and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is also believed to be the SM-T815 which also passed the FCC yesterday, June 2 (FCC ID A3LSMT815). The tablet has been given Bluetooth and WiFi certifications which means the tablet will be announced very soon. There’s also a reference to a SM-T81x series which could be the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 LTE.
