There have been rumors suggesting Samsung was working on a line of tablets with a higher-resolution AMOLED display. We have yet to see anything official from Samsung, and so far there hasn’t been any image leaks showing the devices. But having said that, it seems some additional details have leaked and they are pointing towards a new lineup called the Galaxy Tab S.

Details here suggest these will be higher-end devices. The still rumored specs include an AMOLED display at 2560 x 1600 and Exynos 5 Octa processor. The specifics for the processor show it being the 5420 with ARM’s big.LITTLE technology. That would mean a quad-core 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 with a quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7. Stepping back and looking at the size options — that appears to include an 8.4 inch and 10.5 inch model.

Or more specifically, two models for each of those sizes. The leaks mention a WiFi only and LTE variant of each. Other details show the tablet running Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat with 3GB of RAM, a 2.1MP front-facing camera (at 1920 x 1080) and an 8MP rear-facing camera at 3264 x 2448.

Interestingly, it seems Samsung will also be taking a feature that was introduced with the Galaxy S5. That would be the fingerprint scanner, and it means the Galaxy Tab S lineup would be the first tablets from Samsung with that type of security. As with other Samsung devices there was also talk of color options. In this case it looks like the color lineup will include Shimmer White and Titanium Grey.

We are always a bit skeptical when it comes to benchmarks, especially leaked benchmarks. But in this case some details have surfaced from AnTuTu and show these tablets with scores over 35,000. Specifically, with a score of 35,268 which suggests there will not be much reason for concern about performance. All said and done, the Galaxy Tab S lineup appears to be taking shape, but we do have to remember these are leaks and likely to change with time.
