Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids edition tablet back in late-August. At the time they offered some specs and details on the tablet itself, but kept the pricing and release details to a minimum. Well, it looks like Samsung has returned with some further detail for those in the US market. In short, pre-orders will be opening soon.

Those in the US will be able to move forward with a pre-order as of November 1st. The tablet will then be available for purchase (or to ship) on November 10th. The price will be $229.99 and as we had seen before, the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids will feature a kids mode and standard mode.

While the standard mode means parents will be able to get a regular Android experience, the tablet is intended for the younger audience. The kids mode is said to have been designed with ease of navigation in mind and includes several games as well as some educational apps. Those include everything from Learn ABCs and 123s to Kids Planet Discovery, Fruit Ninja, Disney’s Toy Story: Smash It! and more.

On the parental side you will find some controls that allow you to define what kind of content can be accessed. The parental controls also allow you to limit the time your kids can play. And for those worried about the kids switching modes and gaining access to features they shouldn’t have — you can limit the mode switching to those with the PIN.

Otherwise, the actual hardware is basically a more colorful version of the regular Galaxy Tab 3. That is basically to say you will get a 7-inch display, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Lastly, the tablet can be found direct with Samsung as well as Amazon, Best Buy, Office Depot and several other major retailers.
