If you’re one of the few that still likes to rock a smartphone with a QWERTY hardware keyboard, we have good news regarding the latest smartphone with one from Verizon. After launching the Galaxy Stratosphere II quietly back in November, today Samsung and Verizon have issued the update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the phone.

Hey, this is a keyboard packing phone that Eric Schmidt could use. Since he recently stated he still loves his BlackBerry keyboard. This even runs nearly the latest version of Android now. Today Verizon has just posted the update details and changelog over at their support page, and we have all the information right here.

The update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the Stratosphere II on Verizon should be arriving sometime this week, but it comes in pretty big at 506.6 MB so you might want to accept and do the update over WiFi. Especially for those with a low data plan. If you’re one of the few rocking a Strat II get excited for some new features. The update also fixes some WiFi and 4G LTE connectivity issues, removes some bloatware and Verizon apps, and improves audio streaming with Pandora and more.

  1. It’s not the OS that Eric is in love with on the the blackberry, it’s the keyboard. Say what you want about blackberry but they have by far the best typing experience of any phones on the market. I went to the Z10 from a bold 9900 and I was worried about loosing the amazing typing ability like I had on the bold but even this phone is amazing. People who need a business tool use blackberry because they have always been the best communications tool on the market and still is. Just because you sell toys doesn’t mean you use them, ask the CEO of Fisher Price.

    • True. Although in our article linked to above regarding Eric we posted a picture of a Android phone with a near identical keyboard. Same curves and everything.

Interesting either way. Old habits die hard.
