Below you can see the specs, but right here you’re going to get the most important factoid of them all: which one of these two Samsung superstars is thinner? Why, it’s the Samsung Galaxy S II of course! But just by a bit. By less than 1mm, if Philip Berne’s sources have anything to say about it. But what other tiny bits are different? There’s a few biggies, but what about the tiny bits? The battery is 100 mAh apart, the larger of the two being the Infuse 4G at 1750, the smaller of course then the Galaxy S II at 1650. Why would that be? Perhaps to create a slightly smaller phone to win the thin wars?
The Infuse 4G was announced at CES 2011, Samsung Galaxy S II announced at Mobile World Congress 2011. The Infuse has the ability to side-load apps (on AT&T this is a big deal because historically they’ve disallowed it,) while we’re still not sure what the deal will be with the USA version of the GS2. In the photos in this post, (all taken by Philip Berne,) the lighter of the two is the Infuse 4G. As you can see, they are VERY similar in their chassis.

So what’s the decision? Bigger screen or more hardcore processor? Larger battery? That’d be strange. Maybe that extra .7 megapixels on the front-facing camera? Boy howdy, it’s all up to you, isn’t it?

The CPU of the GS2 is an exynos 1.2Ghz not a 1.0Ghz
some regions arent getting the exynos….so thats not 100% entirely correct

Actually the sgs2 has better battery life because its dual-core vs single. There isnt much of a reason to go for the Infuse over Sgs2 at all.
agreed except for the fact that the infuse will more than likely be out first – this is important no matter how you look at the situation

‘Wi-Fi Direct’ = Fancy, formal protocol to automatically accomplish something you could always do manually (ad-hoc wifi tethering).

The 100 mAh difference is invalid as dual cores consume much less power than single cores.
The s2 has 1.2 Ghz dual core while the Infuse has 1.2 Ghz single core.
Any phone which comes out with a single core is outdated the moment it is released.
They should not be compared with the next Gen models.

The only reason I would even think about the infuse over the S2 is because my current phone is the Dell Streak running streakdroid 1.9 and i would feel the shrinkage less. But I guess .3 isn’t that much differences. Is the infuse thiner too?

I paid a pretty penney for the s2 and it came with a dead battery, so im ugrading it to a 3500mah bat with new casing looks promising.
New to android. iphone owner interested in GS2. What is side loading and will the GS2 support 4G?
sideloading means getting applications from places other than the official market. this means you could get apps from Amazon market or use your own custom-made apps if you wish as well. no such ability exists on iphone without hacking.

I’m really torn between both of these, and HTC Inspire for my next phone…. My old iPhone is finally dying. Historically, I keep a phone for 4-5 years; which of these three is the appropriate choice for staying as not-obsolete as possible over the course of a few years?
Galaxy s II. Theres already a whole line of phones with dual core processors that are quickly making the single-core processors a thing of the past.
Do you think duel processor is a gimmick? Does it make a difference?
if you haven’t already found out, yes dual core is the way to go. For android especially it makes a world of difference for performance. The dual 1.2 Exynos the GS2 sports is amazing

ok, I was really set on the GS2, but after looking at this, I am thinking I’d rather have the longer battery life the infuse offers. the only thing it looks like I would be missing out on is the better processor, and the new OS.
Just broke my Infuse and I swear it was an accident…they are replacing it with the GS2 because ATT doesn’t make Infuse anymore and I understand why…Great phone with crappy reception! So I hope the GS2 is an upgrade…fingers crossed and we’ll see how things go after this Friday, when I receive my replacement. Love LOVE the camera on the Infuse so besides reception that is my second important feature….like I said other than the crappy reception and battery life kinda sucks if you use data a lot Infuse is a great phone. But if you can’t use your phone for what it is mainly used for all the other features don’t really matter..btw dropped phone and shattered screen :-/
