Samsung has been taking their Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for the Galaxy S II pretty seriously, and it has started showing up for another location the past couple of days. For now it’s mainly available for the standard 4.3-inch model available across the globe, and today the update is arriving for unlocked SGSII owners in Australia.

The last on the list to receive the frozen update was here in the US, although only for fully unlocked and imported models. Any carrier specific Galaxy S II phones on AT&T, T-Mobile or others still haven’t seen the update — officially at least. Earlier this week the Epic 4G Touch ICS build was leaked, and you can get more details on that here.

These leaks have been appearing quite often the past few weeks, so this is merely a reminder that for those using the Samsung Galaxy S II in Australia the latest update to Android 4.0 ICS is rolling out now and should be arriving on handsets as we speak. This update is also available via Samsung Kies, but appears to only be for the Galaxy S II standard version. Users of the SGSII 4G on Telstra still will be waiting a few more weeks. Let us know how the update goes folks.

  1. Just installed the update last night! Havnt noticed too much different yet, slight speed increases maybe, battery seems to drain less. Very frustrating that the home screen double tap voice control/vlingo crap issue is still there. That thing happens at least a couple times a day and pisses me off.

  2. Any ideas when the Andriod 4.0 update for the Samsung Galaxy II 4G on Telstra will be available? The article said a few weeks, and it was dated back in April.
