We have all been seeing a lot of dual-core phones on the horizon, and one thing we always do first is a Quadrant benchmark or something of that sort. Now this does not represent real world testing, but it gives us a pretty good idea on what is to come. We have the Galaxy S II here ripping through any other stock quadrant score we’ve yet to see.

Yes this is fast, It is even faster than the Motorola Xoom, the LG G2x, and the newly announced 1.2 Ghz dual-core HTC Sensation, but there is a big reason for that huge score. A lot of that is screen resolution. My Motorola Xoom scores over 3300 when overclocked to Galaxy S II speeds, and the Xoom has a 1280×800 resolution, way larger than the small 800×480 of the Galaxy S II. The HTC Sensation also has a qHD High-res screen with a 960×540 resolution so it has to push a lot more pixels, making its benchmark score lower.

We all know that Samsung had the best processor for a long time in the Galaxy S line, and they aren’t planning on letting that go. I’m sure they have been working hard to make sure this device will be blazing fast, and so far it looks like it will be. I’m still irritated it has the low resolution 800×480, but some will say it will still look better than the qHD because the Super AMOLED + it has on board. We will see. The same issue is why I might not buy the G2x, low resolution screen in a HD screen era. That is all for now, we will report more as we see it on the Galaxy S II.

  1. Typing from a g2x, and a former vibrant owner, used an intercept for 3 months between; I have found the screen on the g2x to have not only better battery efficience but a crisper screen. It could be the 3 months without a super phone but idk…

  2. My galaxy s overclocked to 1.3GHz and with ext4 filesystem gives 3897 in quadrant. With 1GHz and ext4 , i get 3454. With 1.56Ghz i get 4241.
