After launching in the UK earlier this month, today Samsung Electronics has confirmed their exciting new Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet will be available throughout the USA starting at just $399 on April 11th. First revealed in Barcelona, Spain, for Mobile World Congress this 8-inch quad-core tablet is pretty impressive so read on for all the details on when and where.

Samsung unveiled the Note 8.0 in Mobile World Congress complete with full voice features built right in. Essentially being an 8-inch tablet that doubles as a smartphone should you need it. While we’re still awaiting the 3G/4G LTE voice-enabled model to hit the streets, it has cleared the FCC. However, the model hitting the streets next week will be WiFi only.

In case you missed our Galaxy Note 8.0 hands-on, here’s all the details. This slate rocks an 8-inch screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution HD display, and runs with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Then under the hood is a 1.6 GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor, 2GB of RAM, and it sports a pair of cameras too. The star of the show however, is the WACOM digitizer screen and S-Pen stylus for true content creation and consumption. Check it out:

The Galaxy Note 8 is essentially their answer to the Nexus 7 and iPad mini, but we’ll reserve judgement until we get one in for a full Android Community review. It sports a 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 front for video chat, and a decently sized 4,600 mAh battery so you should be enjoying the slate for hours on end. Today Samsung confirmed it will be available online and in stores throughout the US for $399 for the 16GB model, so if you’re interested I’d be running down to Best Buy to give it a spin. Stay tuned for a full review coming quick!

  1. If this is Samsung’s answer to the N7 and iPad Mini, they’re late as hell. It’s not priced to compete w/ the N7 either.

    • I don’t think that’s the case. … Samsung’s answer to N7 and Mini are the tablets from the Galaxy Tab line. Note is different beast. It focuses on the use of stylus as your main mode of input, which for me is a big seller.

Not to mention that Note is significantly more powerful than either the Nexus or the Apple device, and has SD card port (again, a huge seller for me).

      • Exactly. I don’t know why people cross shop the Note tablets with other tablets. To be honest, the only tablet to actually compete with it was the HTC Flyer if I recall. This is an awesome device for students (note taking, drawing out diagrams, equations, chemistry equations, etc.). The N7 and iPad Mini offer no such features. I was actually waiting on this tablet.

  2. I want this tablet for it’s 8 inch form factor and the S-pen functionality but to have that I’d have to compromise screen resolution, internal memory (only 16g now compared to 32g option that apparently is no longer available), color ( only white because apparently black is no longer available), and it’s outdated, overly repetitive look of every other Samsung device, all for almost twice as much as the Nexus 7. I could really use this for my work but man, I just can’t justify it!!!

      • It would have been killer if they gave us the 32gb model for $249.00. At this price point I will wait and see if that Sony Z tablet is worth it. This tablet went from a must buy to a must wait for me… Android needs to do a better job at releasing tablets within 30 days of us (the public) hearing about them. I have been waiting over 4 months, maybe longer, for this and that price point blows.

  3. If this came in the 32gb internal storage flavor, as well as offering in black (to have a choice), I think the $399 would be a “no brainer.” I think Samsung needs to drop the 2 year 50gb Dropbox gift ($100 value, based on current dropbox pricing for 100gb @ 99 per year), the $25 Google Play store gift, as well as the 1 month Samsung Music hub streaming (There’s a free 30 day trial anyway, but pricing is 9.99 after the trial period). Take the price of all of those combined and they can drop the price to $264! People would without a doubt pay that price (myself included). I wouldn’t even wait for word on a 32gb version, if that were the price.
