The Samsung Galaxy Note 3/Galaxy Gear media train rolls on. This time, the ad features footballer Lionel Messi as he orchestrates the demolition of a building to build a new football pitch. He uses both the Note 3 and Gear to conduct business, even making a call from his Gear.

Like their previous commercial regarding the history of the smartwatch, this has incredible production value. Unlike the previous commercial, this shows real-world use cases, and illustrates how valuable the tandem can be to power users.

Set to “Royals” by Lorde — which is sung by children in the video — the commercial is a retelling of an actual event set in motion by the Messi foundation. The foundation has the goal of helping underprivileged and at-risk youth across the world. In the commercial, children opine about their situation as they watch bulldozers trail in. Fearing the worst, they’re ultimately surprised by Messi, and a new football pitch in the middle of their neighborhood.

Check out the video below, and tell us what you think. Does it entice you to buy a Note 3 and Galaxy Gear? Maybe you really just want to play football or tear down a building, now.

  1. That has got to be the WORST commercial for a cell phone I have ever seen!!!! If I had seen this on TV I would have no idea what they were trying to sell. As it was, I did a google search for a commercial on the Note 3 + Gear and found it…. honestly, I still don’t know anything about the Note 3 + Gear after watching this commercial. Terrible, Terrible marketing… whoever signed off on this advertising campaign should be fired.

Come on Samsung, give us something that is informative, entertaining, educational and GREAT… just like the Note 3 + Gear. It really is a GREAT phone + gear, but nobody is going to know about it except by word of mouth if you keep this type of marketing.
