Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 delayed to June, getting upgrade to Exynos quad-core

Big news appears to have hit the streets over the past couple of days regarding Samsung's next onslaught of Android tablets. Earlier this week we reported the Galaxy Tab 2 with Android 4.0 ICS was delayed until late April although no reason was released. Today we are now hearing the Galaxy Note 10.1 has also been delayed, but with good reason. The delay is because it will be receiving a quad-core instead.

According to details gathered by PocketDroid the 10.1-inch Galaxy Note has been delayed to sometime in June as Samsung replaces the 1.4 GHz dual-core under the hood with their own in-house quad-core Exynos processor. It is possible that they'll go with the Tegra 3 too, but most likely they'll opt for their own silicon.

These details has seemingly been confirmed by a local economic newspaper in Korea the IPD but we will continue to hunt for more details as this is just hitting the wires. The Galaxy Note 10.1 features the same impressive S-Pen technology as the Galaxy Note, and will launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board. I personally don't mind a small delay if that means we'll be seeing a quad-core to compete with the Tegra 3. We'll update with additional details once made available.

This is the pup I’m waiting for!!! Happily concede the delay to the quad-core.

wow, now that’s something to get excited about. I was leaning towards the Prime from ASUS but now, i think i’ll wait til the NOTE comes out. A couple more months is going to be worth it that includes ICS and exnos quadcore or even tegra 3.

do u know dear… what is best for buy… galaxy s2 or note ?

S2 or Note.. they are very similar for AT&T. The note is impressive if you can handle the screen. Otherwise I’d snag that SGSII Skyrocket.

        Or wait for S3

      • Sperrybird

         well..dear. :)

My preference is the NOTE simply for that large display and the included stylus for writing. It’s the best stylus i’ve tried so for on a phone or tablet. However, if the 5.3 inches of the NOTE is too big and you don’t care for the stylus, i would wait for the S3.

This delay is slight when compared to the benefits that will come from a more capable processor. Now they have to up the RAM to 2GB and we will have the perfect artists’ tablet. Designers will flock to the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the iPad will have missed the mark in terms of the needs of creatives. It’s amazing Apple was blind to the need for a pressure sensitive stylus. When the Note 10.1 comes out my guess is that they will be doing a mad scramble in Cupertino to try to compete.

What’s sad is if they do, you know they will get the software support for the stylus optimization almost right away. Nobody will be dragging their heels and Apple will get promoted as inventing the stylus.  I mean completely reinventing the stylus. I mean refining the stylus. I mean redefining the stylus.  I mean however Apple wants to spin it so it doesn’t look like they copied Samsung.

This is the right move if this is true.  It’s going to be a lot easier to market this as a top performer with a stylus than well you have to make some performance/hardware sacrifices if you want the stylus.  A 1200p option would be nice too for those who want to spend the extra cash.

My most awaited electronic gadget this year. I hope Samsung market and advertise the heck out of this tablet like it did with the Galaxy Note !!!! So the world can again wake up and realize they need to be productive.

hopefully they will do some update on the camera as well; megapixel to at least 5 megapixel

    • Omer Tayfun

      why only 5 . Asus’s tegra 3 tablets have 8 mp with 2.2 or 2.4 apperture

  • supervision2006

Must probably this model will be my 1st tablet… like the s-pen function

I don’t have a Note but I played with one in a store and I absolutely love that pen.  I use my phone often to VNC into another computer and no matter what tablet you use you still have to zoom in and out to click on specific things.  With a pin point stylus no need to zoom!  The fact that it’ll be pressure sensitive also makes it a HUGE win.  You can draw on this like a normal digitizer and edit photos with total accuracy.  I cannot wait to buy this.

This tablet just need a super Amoled HD display with a resolution competing with the iPad3

If they add it, this will be the “Coup de grace” to apple

I’m in the market for a tablet and I was teetering between an Ipad 2 or the new Galaxy Tab 2′s (I have a S2 Skyrocket so I’m already familiar with Samsung quality), but if this report is true I have no problem waiting for a quad core Note 10.1. THAT sounds like exactly what I’m looking for.
