If you know Samsung from their history, you would be forgiven for thinking that the budget offerings of the Korean smartphone giant will probably never get a taste of Android Lollipop. But Samsung has been surprising us this year, trying to bring back excitement to the brand and doing stuff very un-Samsung-like. First, they updated the budget Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 to Lollipop. Now Lollipop has also arrived for another budget device, the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime.

The Galaxy Core Prime is no doubt a lower mid-tier phone, with its dated (but still capable) quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. If Samsung went by tradition, you would have never though this happening, but the fact of the matter is – the Lollipop update is for the Galaxy Core prime is real, good on you Samsung.

The rollout started in Poland, where the update is confirmed to be an Android 5.0.2 build, with build number G360FXXU1BOD9. Samsung Galaxy Core Prime users will expect all the things that come with Lollipop – faster performance, that minimalist Material Design interface, and all the bug fixes specific to the handset.

You have a few options in getting this update. You can either wait for the OTA notification to appear on your phone – make sure you are on a wifi connection when you proceed with the update. Or, you can update via Samsung Kies, which is confirmed to already have the update. Either way, we’re sure you will enjoy this one.
