Nothing is final and official yet but we know that the Galaxy A8 is getting a 2016 version. The South Korean tech giant is gearing up for the launch of the smartphone that proved to be a favorite of Samsung fans. This upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) is expected to be, obviously, a better version of last year’s model. It’s better alright but unfortunately, the screen is now smaller in size.

Specs of the Galaxy phone were listed on a GFXBench page. The device is listed as model number SM-A810. No confirmation yet from the company but we believe this is the new Galaxy A8. What’s interesting is that the display is now down to 5.1-inches from 5.7-inches. The 0.6-inch difference may seem small but we’re curious as to why it happened.

Last year’s Galaxy A8 offering was introduced in the month of August so we can assume the 2016 iteration will also be unveiled around the same time with an affordable pricing. According to an earlier leak, the new Galaxy A phone will be priced around $205 or maybe even lower.

The benchmark document lists that the phone still has a 1080p resolution. That’s good news but we’re hoping a little upgrade would have been nice. For this year, instead of a Snapdragon processor, you might see an Exynos 7420 chipset together with 3GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage, 16MP camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera. There’s also the ARM Mali-T760 MP8 (octa-core) GPU and the usual accelerometer, Bluetooth, and barometer.
