You would think that India already has too many budget smartphones in the market, and that since a lot of those devices actually come from Samsung, they don’t need another one. But apparently, the Korean OEM thinks otherwise. They have announced a new Galaxy J2 model, this time with 4G LTE, and it will be available only in India (for now). This is the 17th 4G smartphone that they have launched in a country that is considered an emerging power in terms of purchasing largely mid-tier devices.

We don’t know the complete specifications of this new device as of yet, except that it runs on a decent 1.3GHz quad-core processor and that it has 1GB of RAM, which is quite normal for devices in this tier. It will also have ultra data saving mode, which is a nifty thing to have since data is quite precious in that part of the world. It will save you up to 50% off your mobile data as it compresses your apps, media like photos and videos, etc.

Previous rumors indicated that this will have a 4.5-inch WVGA screen and will have a 5MP main camera and a 2MP front-facing one. So you probably won’t be able to use this to enter any mobile photography contest. It will reportedly come with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, will support dual SIM, and will have a 2,000 mAh battery.

If you are in India and you’re on the lookout for a secondary device or you’d want to have just a budget smartphone, then wait for further announcements as to the availability of the Samsung Galaxy J2. It will retail for 8490 rupees, which is around $128.
