With other video streaming devices like Chromecast stepping up their game with new updates and new gadgets, Roku will definitely not allow itself to be left behind. After unveiling their brand new Roku 4 which can do 4K video streaming up to 60 frames per second, they have now revealed a brand new system with OS 7, as well as a new look for its Android mobile app. Users can also now enjoy the joys of Roku Feed as well as a Hotel and Dorm Connect feature.

Roku Feed was actually introduced earlier this year, but now is fully integrated into OS 7. Users can now follow certain shows, movies, directors, etc so that when a new episode or the movie actually comes out already, you’ll receive a notification that they are now available. The Roku Home Screen shows you if you have new notifications in the feed, and when you go to Roku Feed, you’ll see which are the actual new updates.

Meanwhile, the Android mobile app has been given a fresh overhaul, and users will now be able to access Roku Search, Roku Feed, Remote Control and Play on Roku on your smartphone. You can now easily search, add, and view stuff on the Roku Feed and then receive notifications on the app when there are new available videos to view. To view photos and videos on the bigger screen, you can use Play on Roku.

Meanwhile if you’re traveling or moving to a dorm, they sometimes require username password log-ins through a web browser. But with Hotel and Dorm Connect, you can plug your Roku Player or Streaming Stick to that Wi-Fi network, then log in using your credentials through a web browser on your mobile device. Afterwards, you can now start streaming the videos (or pictures) you want to.
