Before the official announcement and market release of the Galaxy Note 7 and Note 7 edge, we’re expecting some software updates to be available for the most recent Galaxy flagship phones. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge still deserve our attention because they will soon be joined by the new Note phablets. There’s no confirmation yet by the mobile network but Rogers is said to have just rolled out an important update that brings Android Wi-Fi calling to the Galaxy S7 variants.

This isn’t the first time Rogers rolled out support for Wi-Fi calling. It launched first on the Galaxy Note 5 followed by the LG G4. The S7/S7 edge pair is the third Rogers device to support the said feature. Note that the call minutes will still be counted against your own call or data plan.

Wi-Fi calling is available on most Android mobile devices but it has to be activated on every network. So far, we know AT&T, and Verizon, T-Mobile offering such in the United States. In Canada, Rogers began to support Android Wi-Fi calling on the S7 and S7 edge. The latest update includes a 266MB update that promises to enhance quality of voice calls made over Wi-Fi even in areas where there are poor coverage.
