If you’re a huge fan of podcasts and follow a gazillion of them, you probably are not a fan of your device’s default podcast player (if it does have one). You probably use a 3rd party podcast app, and one of the more popular ones among Android users is Pocket Casts. It has a lot going for it already, and even if this update doesn’t bring anything big to the table, an update is an update. Plus, we can always use bug fixes and improvements.
Version 5.4.1, or as they call it, Build 324, is their “most exciting yet”. Okay, we’re not sure about the exciting part. In fact, we’re not even sure about the “changelog” because it seems like they’re trying to be funny (and poking fun at Apple) by adding things like “chamfered edges, less ports, improved camera, etc”. But what they’re serious about is that they “fixed a truck load of things” with this update, but as to what those changes are, they didn’t enumerate anything.
The previous update did bring some big things like a Material Design refresh, audio effects, auto-downloading of episodes, playback sync across devices, etc. But this time around, even if they claim that it’s “the best build of Pocket Casts”, we don’t really see any major changes.
But bug fixes and improvements are always welcome of course, and this is what it seems to be all about with this update. You can update the app through its Google Play Store page.
