While we’re still waiting (some, impatiently) for the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update from Samsung to finally roll out, the beta program that the OEM has started for its flagship devices is still underway. According to the leaked timetable, the update will finally roll out this month and next, but one user has leaked screenshots of their Galaxy Note 5 running on the latest update from Google. It isn’t clear if it’s the beta version or the official one, but the two will probably look almost the same anyways.

The images show that of what Android 6.0.1 will look like on the Galaxy Note 5. This is the same version that Samsung has been running in the beta program for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, and then eventually the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the aforementioned Galaxy Note 5. It also looks similar to the earlier leaked screenshots for the S6 and S6 edge, so this might just be the test firmware for those approved in the beta program.

What is clear from the pics is that the notification bar area, which many have complained about the TouchWiz, now has a white theme with blue accents. Some do not like this new look, but we are of the opinion that it looks cleaner and better than the previous one. The one who leaked the photos says that his device seems to run smoother too, which may be saying something because the Note 5 at present is already the smoothest Samsung device on Android 5.1.1 that we’ve seen.

What we still don’t know now of course is when the actual update will roll out. Hopefully, this will happen before the announcement of the next Android major update.
