PhoneFusion has officially released their Fusion Voicemail Plus service for Android. Now G1 owners won’t go without the luxury of being able to see whom your voicemail is from and listen to them in the order in which you wish.

As promised the guys over at PhoneFusion have reworked the Android version so that it looks a lot better than previous version of other phones. Go ahead and download this application for free in the Android Market and let us know what you think. Will you use it, and how can this application be application be improved?

Louis Libin, chief executive officer for PhoneFusion said, “With the launch of T-Mobile’s G1, the first Android-powered smartphone, people have been looking for an innovative visual voicemail app that runs on this breakthrough device. We believe Fusion Voicemail Plus fills this gap, giving the Android community a better way to stay connected when it matters most. We expect this application will quickly become one of the favorites on Android Market.”

  1. I will be downloading this on lunch break. Finally with 3G (thanks T-Mobile!).
  2. Looks good so far.. Not one problem yet..
  3. Set up was a hassle. I didn't like the fact I had to go into the settings and go online to set this thing up. After that though it worked wonderfully. IT is based off of Text messages though. That is a little annoying cause it also sends a text message
  4. So far, it's a bust. I've tried multiple times leaving myself a message. I get a text message that says PFAM or something then I get the visual voicemail. When I go into VVM, it shows no voicemails at all.

This is very frustrating. I'm up that I did something wrong but I believe I've followed instructions completely.
  5. Downloading now...
  6. that extra text message is annoying.. there has to be a way to turn that off..

    Otherwise it is GREAT!..
  7. I sent customer support an email about turning that SMS text off...
  8. Is there anyway to incorporate your contacts with this program? When I open it up it shows me the phone numbers of who called but not the names.
  9. So after you sign up on the website, then what are you supposed to do?

    I am a bit confused...
  10. Well, it says right here that they use the true caller ID, not your contact list.

  11. Works great and free. Set up was a headache
QUESTION: Is there any way to turn off the text message notification? It is redundant as the notification center already let's me know I have a VM.
ALSO CONCERNED that the text messages will eat up my 400 texts/mo plan and cost me money.

Emailed PFusion cust. support they say there is no way to turn it off, so if you guys know how please let me know.

They sent me the same thing..about not being a way to turn it off and it was a Google restriction.

I feel for u with the 400 txts... I have unlimited so it is just something that will just get on my nerves..but I like the app...

Yeah, I don't text that much so no need for unlimited...once they figure out a way to turn off notification this will be golden.

Maybe there is a way on the phone to specifically not receive txt from that phone number... hopefully it wouldn't mess up the app..
  15. I dont know it is working perfectly for me. I love it. The only thing wrong it that it also sends you a text message as well, but other than that this is probably the best app so far aside from zombie run, haha
  16. I still haven't received my SMS and I signed up on my PC and on my device, hmm...

    Nope that didn't do it...
  19. is there anyway to customize the VM message that other's hear?

Well looks like I wont be using this app then. It hasnt even picked up 1 persons name in 6 tries
  21. You have to change your voicemail numbers before you call your phone. And you need to download the program from the market. I just wen through the same thing. Yeah, the last instructions to you said to wait for a text message. Well, they really meant to wait for the email that you probably received already. Follow those instructions and you should be good to go.

They were able to put this out so quickly that I'd bet they would appreciate the feedback and perhaps they can recode it so it can use your contact list if you choose. Probably wouldn't take them long at all to make that change.
  24. I used PhoneFusion on my BlackBerry last year. It sucked completely and never worked. I'm very hesitant to try it on the G1. I currently have YouMail setup which isn't visual, but it works beautifully...

No email either. I guess ill just wait it out a bit or something.
  26. I like it, works great could do without the extra text message though. Works nicely once I got it setup and changed the incoming message. Nice app though. Hopefully they will continue to make it better!
  27. Guys,
The extra text message is how the phone knows there is a new voice message:

    1) call gets forwarded to phonefusion
    2) they take voicemail
    3) send you a textmessage
    4) their software must be watching incoming text messages from their number
    5) reads the code in the text message (guessing)
    6) pops up with a new voicemail in the app, (info probably gleaned from the code in text message)

I don't like that it doesn't just use push/pull like e-mail. I tihnk if you combine this with youmail then it would be perfect.

But in reality i don't like my voicemail not working if some 3rd party system goes down. I think i'm going to regular voicemail.

Nice try phonefusion, i'm not ready to hand over that function to you.

  28. Hi. Thanks for downloading FVM Plus for Android and the great feedback. I will be posting some more YouTube videos on the app later tonight. Please check them out. Also, we have received feedback about SMS. Here is a FAQ from the company:

    Q. Can I stop the text messages that are sent to my G1 when I get a new message? The message looks like this: PFVM00000900000000000000. And why are they all in a single thread instead of individual messages?

    A. Unfortunately there is a design limitation in the G1 OS and there is nothing we can do to stop these text messages in their current format, as this is a Google restriction within the OS.

    Q. How do I register my Fusion Voicemail Plus application on my G1?

    A. In order for the application to work correctly you must install the application using the Android Market option within your device. At that point you will be brought to a web page to register your account.

Please keep the emails coming at androidfeedback@phonefusion.com
  29. For those wondering about the text messages you receive every time you get a voice mail, I emailed phone fusion and here was their reply...

    Good Afternoon:

Unfortunately, there is no way for us to stop the sending of text messages when a new message is received. this is a Google restriction.

    Thank You,
    Customer Support

Well, that means I won't be using the service. I also have a hard time believing it's an OS restriction. If other programs are able to check for web content, why can't PhoneFusion just check the servers for a new voicemail every minute or something? Twidroid is able to check Twitter for updates without text messages being used...

Are you just pasting in something from phonefusion or are you a phonefusion employee?
  32. 1. download the program from the market

    2. go to the website that the program tells you to go via your computer, can do it through the g1 but it doesn't optimize the site very well

    3. register your phone number and make sure to write down the account number/user login that they gave you, as well as the password/pin that they sent you via text

    4. after registration and installation of the market app is completed, go to settings > call settings > call forwarding on your g1 and enter the following:

    Forward when busy
    Forward when unanswered
    Forward when unreachable

for all these sections put the voicemail number for fusion one, which is +1-813-200-0200

an alternative way of making all the forwarding features enabled and with the voicemail phone number is to use the following command on your dailer application:

    *004*18132000200#

and then press the send button... this command will enable your call forwarding and activate all of these options with that voicemail number... after you press send a box should pop up and say "Call forwarding service was enabled."

To double check that this is right, you can go back to settings > call settings > call forwarding and all numbers should show the new voicemail number

after that, log into your online account and send the test voicemail or try leaving yourself a voicemail message, it should work fine from then on...

obvious recommendation fusion team would be to add simplified directions for each phone model etc in your knowledge base... your online layout is horrid at best for your FAQ and knowledge base... the PDF's i don't mind cause i like it, but for general users its even more confusing...
  33. Too bad but the extra text msg means goodbye to the app. Even if I had unlimited msgs the extra item to clear is a pain.
  34. no, that's really one of the guys working there.

In that case I would like to tell you that to me this is a promising app, but I hope that you take the time to read the comments posted here carefully. The text message, I understand is needed with the current implementation, but is there no way for PhoneFusion to delete it after using it to retrieve the data it needs? Or how about a server based solution where the phone asks your sever every x number of minutes if there's a new voicemail? Finally, after having just set this app up on my phone I would like to tell you the instructions could use improvement. I'd be happy to tell you specifics where I felt they fell short.
  36. The extra text message is annoying but i can live with it. what really grinds my gears is the caller ID doesn't show up just the number! arg!!!
  37. Another vote here for removing the text message (for those of us that only have 400/month).

Also as someone else asked, is there a way to change / customize the VM greeting?

    Otherwise, this looks very promising!!!
  38. you can customize the message its on pdf. consists of calling yourself hitting pound sign, entering password and something something i did it it works
  39. hey i cant get it to work for me ???...i followed the steps, 1) downloaded the app. 2)registered online. now im SUPPOSED to get an email or text or something right???...ive yet to get anything...ive un-installed and then reinstalled and did it all over again but nothing???...dont know what else to do PLEASE HELP!!!!

  41. ok, that text message thing is way too annoying, got a few voicemails today, in the middle of emails/texts and having to go and delete it is just getting old... anyone have the original #'s to put back in to forward to my tmobile voicemail again?
  42. This sounds very promising, but I agree, I don't want to have to delete a text message every time I get a voice mail. I think I am going to hold off on downloading this and stick with youmail for now.
  43. i just installed it got one person who left me a message but just showed the number no name.
  44. That is another concern. I don't have numbers memorized. I don't want to have to view the number, then search my contact list to figure out who the number is. On the you tube video, it shows the name and number?
  45. I'm having an issue where every time I go into the app I have to change the output method to earpiece. When i exit the app and reopen it, speakerphone is chosen again. That is geting a little annoying.

yup I'm going back to the normal vm.. it's just a too much of hassle for me, and txting was annoying. anyways, here's the number to the t-mobile original vm: 18056377249 <- instead of 8132000200.

plus, for some reason, my voicemails didn't come through after switching back to the number above. disabled call forwarding and it started working again.
  47. On the BlackBerry that message, which could be either an email to your BB address or an SMS, would delete itself automatically. On the BB the interface was bad, but now that the interface is better for Android, you have to deal with this SMS annoyance. Oh well.

Hey now that would work for me, if instead of an SMS it was a Gmail msg (either gtalk or email) because then it wouldn't count against my 400/month text allotment.

    Maybe the next version.
  49. I like it! I think it would be better if it was sync'd with our contact list. Having a contact name or pic/icon would make it sweet! I do agree with the others that the extra text message is annoying.
  50. Can anymore tell me how to make your contact show on the viusal voicemail phone fusion? Please adv thank you
  51. it'll be in the nexy update j, which appears to be coming soon.
  52. Yes dial the number 813-200-0200 put in your number and password and then follow the voice mail prompt.
  53. Hi, everyone. The contact fix will be in an update today. You will need to, however, re-download the app. Keep the feedback coming!

Anyone found a solution to this problem? I can see my messages in the online account. I get the text and somtimes the green icon indicating i have a message in the app, but when i open the app there are no messages in there. Please help if you have a solution for this.
  55. Still cant get this to work, got the settings ok, but the app seems stuck, cant delete the test message or get any new message notifications in the app, the texts come through ok, but not in the app so I cant listen to them. I have uninstalled and re installed, but the test message still appears.
  56. I still haven't gotten a reply message after signing up. I signed up yesterday at about 2:00 pm. 20 hours later, nothing.
  57. Does this program download the messages? If it does that could explain why it takes so long for it to paly messages. I'm on edge most of the time. Is there anyway to find this out? When is the new version coming out?

You still didn't get the email after you got the PIN??? Check your spam box? I dunno....
  59. Does anyone know what the original settings are?
  60. Nice try PhoneFusion. I'll wait 'til you fix the following:
    -That annoying text message.
-The issue with my contacts not synching
-The ability to play the message by touching a specific message listing. I don't want to touch and get options. I want to simpy be able to touch the message listing and hear it playing immediately.
-The tedious enrollment process (having to manually re-enter all my phone contacts and their CARRIER info on your website is just not intuitive.

Let me brutally honest: This thing is garbage.

I didn't even get the pin.
  62. Youmail works a lot better and you can use custom messages. Isn't the name "Visual Voicemail" a little misleading, or is it just me. I thought it was going to do a speech to text conversion and then send us a text message.
  63. I felt the same way before I knew what it really meant. VVM really means you are presented with a list of all of your voicemails (meta data--time, date, phone number, length of call, etc). You can tap and choose to play them in any order. Random Access. You can't do that with YouMail. If this isn't important to you, then VVM isn't for you.
  64. Yeah, you can with Youmail. You can play or delete any message you want in any order you would like.
  65. I don't think YouMail can on the phone, can it (G1)? Maybe I'm wrong. You can online, sure. How would you tell the phone "Play back this message from my mom. I know it's from my mom b/c I can see it along with all the other voice mails I have, and this is the one I want. I don't know if it's the 4th, 10th, or 50th voice mail in the queue, but it's the first one I want to hear right now." And I don't want to hear 'message from yadda yadda <skip this message>' just to get to it. That's not random access.

Worked for me for about 5 hours, then kept saying I had to sign-up. Then quit working altogether. It would send a text and record vmail but would not leave anything inside the program itself.
  67. I download'd this think'n it was gonna b kewl cuz u can c ya voicemail but....this app really sux. Wen u get a VM it sends a txt reminder which iz very annoy'n plus u can't skim thru the VM ur listen'n 2. I deleted it soon after i download'd it. Also, the chang'n the settings of the VM sux 2. Phonefusion wut were u think'n? This was not a kewl app or useful app at all.
  68. Yeah I hate when things aren't kewl. Not being kewl ain't kewl atz all
  69. I seriously think google needs to make this a must in their next update..
The iPhone one looks and works great..
The whole interface and overall execution of the phonefusion version plain out sucks..
  70. youmail.com FOR THE WIN!

    text message or e-mail alerts
    easy set up
custom voice mails for each and every caller
import contacts from gmail.com e-mail automatically
accessible online and with G1 browser
    hands down, the best

I was hoping for a speech to text app too. Even if it's slightly off, I can get the gist of the message.
  72. PhoneFusion + just updated the App to read Contact info.
Setting up Call Forwarding is also streamlined now with simple tap.
I'm loving it a lot better now.
Text messages still get sent with every voicemail though!
  73. PhoneFusion guys, I think it would be really nice of you to come in here and publicly tell us about your privacy policy with regards the contact data that you now will have access to on our phones. The privacy policy on your website only deals with your website, not with the application itself.
    http://www.phonefusion.com/documents...olicy_2008.pdf
  74. I set it up.. but every time i launch the app it says you need to register. if i try a second time to reg. it says there is an error,, so nope not working here
  75. Just got the update but it still shows just the phone number, not the contact. Am I doing something wrong?
  76. anyone? ??????????
  77. I haven't downloaded it yet, and I don't plan to until I hear what their privacy policy is with regards to our address books. You do realize they are a free service and they have to make money somehow. An easy way for that to happen would be to sell our contact lists. I seriously hope that isn't the case, but I want to hear it from them first.
  78. gibbage you know they have other services that are not free also right?
  79. anyone have the contacts working? Mine still show the number
  80. my contacts are working w/ phone fuzion... the new update fixed it... make sure you have the newest release..
  81. Are there any of the PhoneFusion reps in here any more? I'd still like to hear what their privacy policy is. They were in here answering questions at one point.
  82. I have a problem with phone fusion and was wondering if i could get some help.

I work in a hospital and when im in the basement i dont get signal. Then when i get back on the network i dont get the voicemail. I kinda understand that it wouldnt know who called via my phone book. But what im having a problem with is the txt message that i get. i'm not able to check my messages. I tried to look at the txt message you get with every voice mail to see if i could call a number and listen to the voice messages. Any ideas?

    thanks.

hmmm... i'm hoping it hasn't been doing this for me. i keep my phone off at night and i have yet to turn on the phone to new voicemails.

    ..sketchy
  84. I would like to know does it have the feature youmail does where you can set different voicemail responses to numbers.

    anyone?

Yea. I spent sometime reading their privacy policy. Didn't get anywhere, I hate reading them.
  86. Does anyone know if there is a way to change the allowable voice mail length? Right now the max is set to 1 minute...
  87. ever since I got my replacement phone Phone Fusion will not work. It answers calls, sends me a text and that I have a new message but I cannot physically click on a message to hear/view.

I contacted them about this and I was told to uninstall/reinstall cause it might be an SD issue. I did and still nothing? No clue what to do????

you have to touch on the actual little play icon.
  89. thats what I am saying, the message doesnt even appear.......there is nothing to click on?????????
  90. Well, I'd like to give it a try but my phone won't allow me to change my voicemail number. I get network errors when I try to make my vm number the Fusionsoft one. *sob, sob*
  91. It would be nice if they would let you set the notification type for the application its self. When your phone is set to vibrate phone fusion will vibrate, this is fine and all but the phone fusion vibrate follows the txt msg notification. When the phone is set to ring, Phone fusion will play a sound to notify you that there is a new msg, right after your phone freaks out beacuse there is a txt msg.

I have e-mailed the developers and asked that they include an option to set the notification of phone fusion as there are many times I would like to have my phone set to ring but not have sounds played when I receive msg's.

It would just be nice if I could set it up period. I actually get the same error with this and YouMail too.

Trying to change my forwarding number I receive:

    Code:
    Call forwarding
    Connection problem or invalid
    MMI code.

Can you set the number by:
Pressing Menu -> Settings -> Call Settings -> Call forwarding

E-mail the developers and let them know you want to be able to set your notification preferences maybe that will help, or at least help me.

No, definitely not on flexpay. And no, setting it via the gui doesn't work either. I read in the tmo forums that I'm not the only one having this issue. It looks like if I want it fixed I have to call T-Mobile and let them set my forwarding number on their side. I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. I mean, if I don't like it, I'd probably have to call them up to set it back -- not to mention switching between the two "visual voicemail" providers to see which I prefer.

    No fair!

We just brought it up so there isn't a lot there just yet but I'm sure people here can fill it up...
