Samsung confirms no 3D in Galaxy S III or other devices

Samsung no doubt makes some of the best Android smartphones and tablets available. Their new flagship, the Galaxy S III has seen a rumor or two suggesting 3D capabilities with dual-cameras and glasses-free 3D displays. The entire thought of 3D might sound like a good idea to some, and a bad one to others. Today Samsung has squashed that rumor and put their foot down.

LG Optimus 3D Max hands-on

It's been about a year since we saw any major new hardware sporting the glasses-free lenticular 3D display technology, but LG seems to have  been pleased enough with the Optimus 3D to give it another go. The Optimus 3D Max (AKA the Optimus 3D Cube in some markets) keeps the originals' 3D screen and dual cameras, while adding a larger 4.3-inch panel ,1.2Ghz dual-core Snapdragon processor and upgrading the cameras to 5 megapixels. Here's out hands-on look from LG's Mobile World Congress event.

LG CX2 phone leaks in new render, including 3D screen

Remember that stretch of a few weeks in 2011 when everyone was thrilled about lenticular 3D displays? LG does, and would like you to think that it's still every bit as exciting. That's the inescapable conclusion behind the LG CX2, AKA the Optimus 3D 2, newly leaked by ETnews.  The phone is likely strutting its three-dimensional stuff prior to an official debut at Mobile World Congress. According to the leak, the new screen greatly improves both the 3D effect and legibility, thanks to an IPS-based screen.

LG planning to show “revolutionary” phones at Mobile World Congress

With Mobile World Congress 2012 soon approaching the invites and press releases keep rolling in. LG has just sent out a few that are saying they will be showing a "revolutionary smartphone for 2012" that is piquing our interest to say the least. Most likely they are talking about the recently teased Optimus Vu 5" smartphone linked below but that might not be all.

LG CX2 photo leaks: Next dual camera 3D smartphone for LG

For those that thought the entire dual camera 3D idea for smartphones was just a fad and something that would quickly pass -- maybe it wont. Apparently LG is preparing their next flagship 3D model to follow up their somewhat successful Optimus 3D. Reports are calling this smartphone the LG CX2 and we have a few press images too.

GADMEI 8″ glasses-free 3D tablet can be yours for $199

First off let me start by saying I'm still not really sold on this mobile 3D technology even though I did enjoy reviewing the HTC EVO 3D. What we have for you today is really interesting though because it has some impressive specs on a full HD 8" 1280 x 800 resolution display all rocking glasses-free 3D. The downside is only Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board but I'm sure a few XDA developers could change that. Check out the full specs, pictures, and video below.

HTC adds MyTouch 4G Slide and Evo View 4G to unlock tool

HTC won some major brownie point with the modder community when it released an official bootloader unlock tool this fall, though the selection of phones that could be unlocked was a bit small. Today the available devices expand by two, with the addition of T-Mobile's MyTouch 4G Slide and the Flyer's mobile broadband variant, the Evo View 4G. It's still a pretty small selection against HTC's entire lineup, but the more options, the better.

Android Revolution HD ROM 2.2.1 on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus

Though still a work in progress, mike1986 has brought Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GSM/LTE) owners his popular Android Revolution HD ROM. I myself have been running this 2.1.1 build without any problems so far. Actually, it is a great improvement over the stock ROM; battery life has improved, and screen transition effects are performed much smoother. The phone is initially very fast, but after installation I've only seen an improvement - no hiccups.

Below we'll show you a few pictures and our hands-on video and let you decide for yourself if this is the next phone for you.
