The smartphone battle seems to have shifted to photography, with manufacturers trying to outdo each other in sheer megapixels or better picture quality. With a new camera smartphone on the way, Oppo is definitely not taking a back seat, giving everyone a sneak peak at its new camera lens.

The popular electronics maker is expected to announce a camera-oriented smartphone in just a few days. The rumomred Oppo N1 is believed to be sporting a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 2 GB of RAM, and a 5.0-inch 1080p display. The company also confirmed that the device will feature a full touch panel on the back. But what camera smartphone would be complete without a decent camera? And so the N1 has either 12 or 16 megapixel camera with Xenon flash that utilizes the company’s “Owl” technology for low-light photography.

It seems that Oppo has been busy with other things as well and is now giving a glimpse of what that is. This camera lens plugin has a Sony CMOS sensor and optical image stabilization. The 16 megapixel plugin comes in two variants: a thinner version with 10x optical zoom, and a thicker one with a larger 15x zoom. The device also includes support for WiF and NFC as well as SD card storage.

Pricing and availability details have not been given but the company might be giving out more information when it launches the Oppo N1 next month.

  1. It would be great to have a smartphone with a really great camera built in. I would mind extra bulk for that. With a nice small telescoping zoom. That would be cool
