While still far from being a household name, OPPO has sent ripples across the Android world with the OPPO N1, thanks to its ties to CyanogenMod. Capitalizing on that sudden burst of popularity, particularly in China, Pepsi has launched a marketing campaign that puts its mark on this hot new product.

In terms of hardware, the OPPO N1 doesn’t boast anything special, except probably the odd rotating 13 megapixel camera that will let you take high resolution selfies more easily. It is, in fact, powered by a slightly lower 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU with 2 GB of RAM. The screen borders on the gigantic side at 5.9 inches with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

The OPPO N1 distinguishes itself by having a character of openness brought by CyanogenMod through the manufacturer’s partnership with the nascent Cyanogen, Inc. Aside from the CyanogenMod edition that will have the custom ROM running out of the box, the regular version that runs the Android-based Color OS will also let users easily install and run CyanogenMod as well.

It seems that the OPPO N1 is enjoying a period of popularity and Pepsi wants to jump in on that by offering a limited edition of the smartphone bearing its signature colors and logo on a specially designed case. But aside from the external appearance, this OPPO N1 Pepsi edition also sports a Pepsi-themed launcher. Other than those, the smartphone remains the same. Unfortunately for Pepsi fans in other countries, this edition is only available in China, and probably other Asian countries, and isn’t actually for sale but will only be used in promotional contests.
