Opera has announced that Opera Mobile for Android will be released within a month, complete with hardware acceleration and pinch-to-zoom.  The company claims that the former “allows Opera Mobile to run at lightning speed” and that “navigating a page will be faster than ever, and the improvements to the UI will be momentous.”

Meanwhile, rather than the two-stage zooming in Opera Mobile currently, the new version for Android will support multiple levels of pinch-zooming.  ”Text will now be rendered at a per character level” the company says, “and zooming in will be a fluid zoom from page-width down to the text you want to focus on.”
