Looking back, it’s been almost a year since we’ve covered what MultiROM has been doing, so it’s good to see the developers are still at it. From the name you may have an idea of what it does – basically, it’s one big Android hack that allows you to boot off different custom ROMs each time. If you’re the type who like features that are just not available on one single ROM, you can boot off almost any custom ROM you like with the MultiROM hack.

First up, this is ported from the original version 33 from the official MultiROM project, but it’s still in a “very experimental” stage, as the developer has announced. We’re talking about MultiROM support for the current Google flagship, the Nexus 6P. But given that, the hack has also been tested with the most popular Nexus 6P ROMs. On secondary ROMs, the fingerprint sensor may not work. Other than that, most things work. Get to the instructions from the official XDA thread, and make sure you backup your data.

Secondly, there’s also an unofficial MultiROM port for the OnePlus X, that smallish phone that OnePlus released last year together with the more standard OnePlus 2. On the OnePlus X, you will need to have a patched Kexec Hardboot Kernel apart from the normal installers, so keep that in mind when installing this hack. The instructions are in its own official XDA thread, click on the link.

Always remember, this hack could potentially destroy your phone. Android devices are designed to run on one ROM only, so multibooting could mess upi your phone really bad. If you’re prepared to take that risk, go on to the source links.
