We saw a brief mention about the XO Tablet availability earlier in the month and while that came from an official source, it seems we now have the full set of details. Basically, the XO Tablet will be available with Walmart beginning today, July 16th.

Perhaps key here, the XO Tablet is being pushed for the younger market and is said to be the “first and only tablet designed specifically to help kids explore their dreams and spark their imaginations.” This tablet brings the XO Dream interface and more than 100 pre-loaded apps which includes a mix of games and books and more. The folks behind the tablet have said the tablet ships with more than $200 in content that is broken down by subject area, interest and skill level.

In addition to the pre-loaded software, the XO Tablet also has access to the Google Play Store. The tablet will be running Jelly Bean and with hardware to include a 7-inch (1024 x 600) display, dual-core 1.64GHz processor, a battery that should be able to provide up to 8 hours of run time and a front and rear-facing camera. Another key point here is in the languages. The XO Tablet is multilingual with support for English and Spanish.

While this has quite a bit for the younger users, there are also features aimed at the parents. In this case the parent features are designed to help show what the kids are doing and what they are using on the tablet. The XO Tablet allows for up to three unique user accounts with specific permissions begin available for each. There is also an XO Journal which is the app that will show the usage details for those three accounts.

Otherwise, given this is aimed at a younger audience some parents may be happy to hear the tablet ships with a protective bumper case. All that being said, the XO Tablet is priced at $149.99 and at the moment the availability is limited to the Walmart.com website. The in-store availability will begin on August 1st.
