Indian mobile device company Olive Telecom has announced its own Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset, the OliveSmart V-S300, an HSPA+ smartphone with a 4.1-inch capacitive touchscreen. OEM is unclear, but the V-S300 has a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with 720p HD video support, 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, 512MB of ROM and WiFi b/g.

There’s also a front-facing webcam, WVGA display, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1, along with HDMI and a digital compass. The whole thing is expected to measure 122 x 66 x 9.9 mm.

Release date isn’t clear, and the fact that Olive has used a screenshot of an earlier Android version than Gingerbread doesn’t exactly fill us with confidence, but we’ll hold judgement until the smartphone emerges into the wild. Olive had previous promised an Android 2.2 device in the first week of March.

Huawei IDEOS U9000 X6 in the name olive smart is put for sale with a price tag of Rs. 20,000, then the person who is opting to buy is a total stupid. Hope Indians are not that stupid.
What is the purpose of having HSPA+ phone when EDGE itself is not available in most of the areas in India?
Even after 5years these operators won’t provide HSPA+ in all areas.
People planning to buy a mobile at 20,000 range are higher class people in India who prefer Branded products and olive is not one such product when compared to Samsung galaxy S, Nexus S, Apple iphone, or atleast Nokia.
For people who will consider buying it the price tag is not in there buying range.
The other models made by Olive, phones- the highest priced model is 5,000.
There olive pad is priced 23,000 only.
This leaves us a question whether the company is greedy and trying to make us fools?
The other models with nearly the same features in India are

    1. Nokia N8
    2. Nokia N97
    3. Nokia C7
    4. Samsung S8530 Wave II
    5. Dell XCD 35
    6. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10
    7. LG KM900 Arena
    8. Motorola MB525 Defy
    9. Motorola Milestone
    10. Motorola Milestone Tablet XT720
    11. Acer Liquid Metal
    12. Samsung Galaxy S
Is expected to launch a new version in a reduced price tag.

A price tag of Rs.15,000 around will surely storm the market.
Its up to you decide before you opt.
