None of us really likes having to mess with cables when it comes time to charge your gadgets like a smartwatch or mobile phones. This is why there are several wireless charging options on the market today and one of those is Qi. A new product has been announced by Quirky that offers a wireless charging plate for Qi enabled devices that does more than just charge.
The Ohm Bluetooth Speaker is a wireless speaker for listening to your favorite tunes and when it comes time to charge your device, you can set it down on the charging plate sticking out of the front for power. The charger is compatible with all Qi devices that will fit on its charge surface.
The Ohm speaker will ship on December 10 and can be pre-ordered right now for $169.99. In addition to the charge plate for Qi devices, there is also a USB port for charging gadgets that need a cable. The Ohm also has an internal battery so you can use it on the go.
The portable speaker measures 5.9 x 1.77 x 2.4-inches and is made from plastic and silicone. A 3.5mm cable will be included for playing music from devices lacking Bluetooth. The internal battery has enough juice to play away from an outlet for six to eight hours.
