Words with Friends might finally have some real competition for all your word twisting fans around. Words with Friends has had more than its share of issues and bugs and many users have been patiently waiting for something better. EA has just released the official Scrabble for Android. The name has been in the market before but EA owns the rights and now have launched the official Scrabble game.

Scrabble has everything and more. With cross-platform gaming you can play with friends on Android, iPhones or iOS, and even Facebook. Teacher mode shows you the best possible move for your previous turn so you can learn from mistakes and missed opportunities. Does it have what it takes to beat Words with Friends or will it only steal a few users fed up with the bugs and problems? A few comments in the market have me worried already.

From what we are reading Scrabble is riddled with ads that are far more intrusive than WWF, its not HD or high quality, it currently only works on phones and is not tablet ready. Some users are reporting it not working over 4G connections but that could be a few different things. They do offer push notification so you know when your turn is up, but sadly you have to wait through the entire splash screen every single time and it gets a little old.

This is only the first release and will probably receive a few updates as time goes on, and hopefully we get a tablet version sooner than later. Oh and you will want to turn off the elevator music ASAP, I almost fell asleep.

  1. The ads are terrible. I understand it’s free but jesus h christ..every move..an ad, the ads at the bottom, sickning.

I also find it funny that EA is pushing the “Origin” online service junk. That makes me laugh.
