Nexus One Site Goes Live, Verizon & Vodafone to get the Handset by Spring

05 January 2010 by Juventino Quinones

That’s right my good fellows, Vincent is at the Google Event having extra fun, and of course asking all the questions he can. But for now, let’s start with the Nexus One site, which is already gone live.

At the site, you will see the prices of the Nexus One after clicking on the “Get your phone” blue button. There’s no surprise, we already knew the pricing; You can buy the phone without service for $529, and insert your own SIM card, there’s free shipping in the continental US. In the package you’ll get: a Nexus One phone case, a wall charger, and USB cable. From T-Mobile, with the Even More individual 500 Plan and a new two year agreement, the Nexus One Phone will cost you $179.

But that’s not all, as you can see on the image below, Verizon and parent company Vodafone, will also carry the Google Nexus One Phone. According to the site, they both will carry the Android handset by Spring 2010. On the Google Event, Vincent asked if there will be unlocked CDMA handsets available, the answer he got was: “That’s complicated. The Nexus One will be available with Verizon service, [but not unlocked]; the Vodafone version will be the regular GSM model.

So there you have it folks, it is confirmed; the Nexus One will arrive to Big Red pretty soon, and you will have to decide between it and the DROID. Which one will you get?

  1. I've gone and ordered mine - SIM-free for $578.64 (£358.27 at today's closing rate), ships to the UK with a "Country specific AC adapter". Google are shipping to four markets initially, US, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong. The package is sent via DHL.

The warranty for UK users is the standard 2-year job as mandated by the EU (although if there is a fundamental defect it is actually 6 years).

If you are a purchaser of the Device outside of the EU, you are entitled to a one-year warranty for parts, labor, and service. These warranties are in addition to and do not affect your legal rights as a consumer.
The handset will be available in the EU in Spring 2007 - that is anywhere from April to June - so the impatient like me will have to order internationally. When it arrives here it will be available on Vodafone contract - probably the usual £35/month.
  2. Thanks for the extra info.
