If you’ve been looking for some hard numbers regarding how many tablets ASUS and Google have sold of their popular Nexus 7, you won’t have much luck. The folks from Google are pretty quiet when it comes to sales figures, and we still don’t have any concrete details. Today however some analysts have reported that the slate has sold roughly 4.6 million units since hitting the market.

Back in October some rumors went around that according to details from ASUS, the tablet was shipping around 1 million per month. Add the past 4 months to previous sales before October and things don’t exactly line up. Either 1 million a month was a high estimate, or these analysts are wrong. Either way the tablet is still doing quite well, and isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

The guys from BGR stumbled on these numbers, and instantly compare them to the iPad Mini which has seen sales topping 10 million. For Google’s first try however, we feel 4.6m is pretty decent and can’t wait for what the future holds. Reports have stated ASUS had higher sales estimates, and that the tablet fell short. Maybe if it wasn’t out of stock so often it would have sold more. Same could be said about the Nexus 4.

This year we’ve heard multiple rumors regarding an awesome new Nexus 7 from Google and ASUS coming in May. During the annual Google I/O conference in San Fransisco rumor has it Google will unveil a new and improved Nexus 7. With features such as a 1080p HD display, faster processor (possibly Snapdragon 600) with more storage, and of course Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Until then, stay tuned for more details.
