We’re hopefully just counting days before the expected announcement of the highly anticipated Google Nexus 5 smartphone in October. In the meantime, we’ll content ourselves with bits and pieces of information and dwell on the device’s potential awesomeness, which seems to be the case indeed as shown in this latest benchmark revelation.

Whispers and rumors of a new Nexus smartphone started shortly after Google unveiled its Nexus 7 refresh to the masses in July. The tech giant has also recently announced its next Android iteration, Android 4.4 KitKat, and with it came glimpses of a new smartphone that is now strongly believed to be manufactured once more by LG. With a handful of heavyweight smartphone announcements that have happened in between, we can expect nothing less from the next smartphone that all other Android smartphones would have to look up to.

And it seems that the Nexus 5 will indeed deliver. Based on the latest GFXBench results from one of its more straining tests, the Nexus 5 performed quite remarkably well, beating the latest generation Android smartphones and, admittedly, tying up with the Apple iPhone 5s. The Nexus 5 is expected to sport a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and, on the graphics side of things, be equipped with the accompanying Adreno 330, topped by a 1080p display. That said, we’ll have to wait for the rest of the hardware in actual use before we can truly claim it to be a powerhouse.

With Android 4.4 KitKat almost all but confirmed to launch next month, it seems only fitting that the Google Nexus 5 would be revealed on the same auspicious day. Hopefully, it won’t be long now before we are able to set our eyes, and our hands, on this delectable device.

      • ‘FIXED’?
So you just threw that graph together yourself?
Oh yeah, this sounds super legit.
Why don’t you make the ‘GALAXY Nexus 5’ twice as fast as the 5s next time?

  1. Galaxy Nexus 5 wouldn’t have been so bad. AMoled Full HD screen with a Snapdragon 800/Adreno 330. as long as it has an better exterior build than the current crop of Galaxy’s…

    • I, for one, hate Amoled. I’ve yet to see one I like under all conditions. They remind me of a TV with contrast set to 100 and their color accuracy is generally horrid under all but the full brightness setting. This, of course, is purely a personal opinion as I know many like them.

  2. Will it finally make decent photos?. My Nexus 4 makes horrible pictures, and when i see pictures made by an iphone 5 i can only feel envy.

    • Mine are fine. Anyway, they are probably going to use the same camera as the G2, with OIS, so they will be really good. Also, I hate iPhone 5 camera, too saturated.

    • I agree with u 1000000000% my nexus one has about the same quality of pictures my N4 (crap) , the nexus s and Gnex also were also horrible when it came to pictures (anyone that disagrees has no clue what good camera……) 😉

  3. My LG G2 scores the same and of course since it has the same processor and also probably because it’s what the Nexus 5 will be based on.
