Though an incremental update — and a good one — the Galaxy S5 was met with some consternation on launch. Some wanted more from the device, with a better screen and more RAM topping the list of complaints. The wait may be over, though, as a new device has popped up with a user agent profile showing some updated specs to the current Samsung flagship.

The device seems to take the form factor of the S5, but up the ante in various spec categories. The 5.2-inch QHD screen is a full 2560 x 1440, and the RAM is also said to be upgraded to 3GB instead of 2GB. Codenamed the KQ, it also falls in line with Samsung’s internal naming for high end devices (the Galaxy lineup is often K-something).

Of special interest is that the Exynos processor found in various Samsung models is getting an upgrade, but will also host Intel LTE modem. This is the first time Intel has forayed into LTE, and could have their largest partner in Samsung. This also sidesteps Qualcomm, so it will be interesting to see if this device comes to the US or not. There is also talk of a Snapdragon model being made for the US to attract users and Developers alike, but there is no evidence to support that.

Is it a Galaxy S5 premium model, or Samsung’s mysterious ultra flagship devices we’ve heard about? Time will tell, but it’s unlikely this is just going to be left alone. Intel’s LTE and updated screen should be enough to encourage Samsung to release this model at some point.

  1. Many people will be pissed, including me for launching a phone a few months later and then having the samsung vp lie about it saying it doesn’t exist to entice people into buying the first s5

    • I kind of agree but then again, I couldn’t wait to have the latest although very happy with the s5, Samsung unlike other companies has the balls to gamble but for now the s5 is a top buy in every aspect.
