CAT S40

CAT phones have always been known as tough, rugged, and durable. Global brand and top manufacturer of construction and mining equipment Caterpillar has just introduced its latest phone offering named as the Cat S40. The newest Cat is another rugged smartphone from the company as a continuous response to the market’s demand for rugged mobile devices.

The CAT S40 is a followup to last year’s S50 phone. This year’s model features the following rugged features: a Super Bright Display, Corning Gorilla Glass 4 screen, Glove-On Working Technology, large capacity battery, waterproof warning sensors, and wet-finger tracking technology. The phone is IP68-compliant which means it can withstand dust, shock, water, and drop from up to 1.8 meters.

There is a rugged phone market just in case you didn’t know. According to Caterpillar, about 10 million of rugged phones were sold in 2014. The number is expected to be higher this year as such rough and tough phones are becoming more appealing to a lot of mobile users, young and old alike. A recent survey by Cat even confirmed that about 80% of mobile phone users had their handsets damaged in one way or another. If you notice, phone makers like Samsung, Panasonic, and Kyocera are trying to enter the rugged market by releasing phones ideal for more active use.

Cat S40 will be available with a £399.99 ($620$399) price tag this coming August 1 in more than 60 countries around the world.

UPDATE: The US price for the Cat S40 is the same $399 figure. Thanks, René!
