Netflix has just updated their app in the Android Market to support the Motorola Droid X running 2.3 Gingerbread. When Netflix was updated back in May and removed the device compatibility check it was working on many devices including the leaked 2.3 for the Droid X. Now the latest update should make it work for all Motorola Droid X users and possibly others.

Netflix has been a long awaited app for Android and with them releasing to such a small group of phones users have been dying to get the app working across all devices, it is good to see them update so quickly to bring support to the Droid X on Gingerbread, and now it is time to do the same for the HTC EVO.

The EVO was recently updated to 2.3 Gingerbread but users are having a slew of issues and Netflix is among the top of the list. Hopefully a simple update to the app will allow HTC EVO with 2.3 support as well, we will see in the coming days. If you are having issues you can still attempt to try the leaked apk floating around just in case it works. Stay tuned for more information as I’m sure Netflix will be updating again soon.

    • @twitter-156782786:disqus the point is they updated the app to support the very recently (last week) update to Android 2.3 for the Droid X. Before it was on Android 2.2 and the update to 2.3 was causing issues.

Now it supports the Droid X for those updated to 2.3 and those that have not and are still on FroYo (2.2)

  1. I have a Droid X with 2.3 and I just downloaded the new version of the app, but I’m having the same problem as before with the version that didn’t support my device. It shows the red Netflix screen with the gear then a white screen, and after a while it says to check network connectivity and date and time settings. Anyone have any ideas of how to fix that? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

  2. Help! I have EVO 3G with new 3.2 update (between froyo and gingerbread). I know its not full gingerbread. I downloaded the app someone sent me; however, there is no found app in the market as is shown in the picture above. Wtf is it at? Please help. Also, when I open the app it says ‘new version of app is found, update?’ and then I click ok and it says ‘requested item not found’. So is this being tweaked or what? I try in wifi setting and plain 3g.

  3. I was able to install netflix on my HTC EVO when it was released in the android market and it WORKED! Now thanks to gingerbread its completely useless and can’t even be found in the market. When will netflix get it working again??
