If you were one of the countries were Netflix was previously not available, you were probably jealous of all your friends who could watch unlimited streams of movies, documentaries, TV shows, etc. Yes, there are of course other services, but chances are, they were vastly different from what they were offering (or those services weren’t available in your country too). But now, with just one announcement, Netflix has almost “overtaken” the world and is now available in 130 new countries, at exactly the moment co-founder and Chief Executive Reed Hastings made the announcement at CES 2016.

Netflix was previously available to 60 countries, specifically those in Latin America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and of course the US. But now, even countries in Asia, those leftover from Europe, and even the Middle East can have access to the huge database of movies and TV shows that the streaming service has. They have also added support for 17 new languages including Arabic, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese as well.

Notable exceptions to Netflix availability are China (they’re still working on it), Crimea, Syria, and North Korea (government restrictions on US companies doing business there). But if you are living in any of the 130 countries added, you can basically watch any show or movie that is in their library, provided your device has Internet connection. That includes smart TVs, game consoles, computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Some of the videos are already in high-definition with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound and some in Ultra HD 4K. After you’ve signed up for your free one-month trial, you can create five user profiles for your account so other family members will also be able to use your account. Of course the monthly subscription fee varies per country and region, but if you base it on US fees, it’s $8.99 per month.
