Nest has done its best to make your home the smartest that it can be with a host of appliances like thermostats, smoke alarms, surveillance cameras, etc. And with the latest update of their Android app, they’ve added two new features that should make managing your devices easier, even if you’re not at home with the Home/Away Assist and adding family members to those who can control your smart devices with the Family Accounts.

The two features can be enjoyed by all Nest Android app users once they’ve updated to the latest version of the app. With the Family Accounts feature, you will not need to share log ins and passwords anymore because you can add up to 10 people who are living in the same house so that everyone will be able to control the various Nest devices located in various room at the house. All the members can also receive notifications from Nest Protect and view the live stream from the Nest Cam in case anyone feels like observing some rooms in the house.

The Home/Away Assist feature will be able to tell you whether someone is at home or in a specific room at the house. It uses both algorithm and activity sensors from your various Nest devices to determine whether there is someone there. It also uses your cellphone’s location, as well as the other connected phones with the Family account, so it can determine whether you should turn off a certain device, switch to away settings, or turn on the heater or thermostat when someone arrives home.

The update also brings better Android Wear support, plus some improvements on the Nest Cam as well. You can check if the update has rolled out to you by visiting the Google Play Store page of the Nest app.
