I guess we can’t really say that the Xoom 4G LTE upgrade has been delayed because we never truly knew when it was coming. When it went on sale February 24th 2011 buyers were told the upgrade would come within the next 3 months. So according to that time frame I guess I could say the update has now been delayed.

This story is still developing but sources are saying they have confirmation that the update will begin rolling out in September, sadly that is over a month away — bad form guys. Reports are also suggesting that Motorola Xoom 3G (one day 4G) owners will be receiving an email from Motorola or Verizon today stating the same thing I’m saying here. That the upgrade will start in September but they don’t have an official date set in stone. I’ve received no such email but I’m on all the mailing lists.

The 4G LTE version of the Xoom recently cleared the FCC and we all thought we’d see the update within weeks, not another month or more. I’m a bit surprised they didn’t push for this sooner and now the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will beat them to market as it will ship with 4G LTE starting Thursday, July 28th.

With the Galaxy Tab being thinner, lighter, and sleeker and now beating the Xoom to 4G LTE is the Xoom going to fade into darkness? What do you guys think?

  1. Well, at least in US you get 4G upgrade, European version costs more, is still on Android 3.0 and will never get LTE (and probably will never get Ice Cream Sandwich either) .

    • Then go to i.e. Amazone and buy the Amercan Version!

I´m from Denmark, US version of Xoom for Amazone.

      Ver. 3.2 and so on… :o)
