It’s been a while since we’ve discussed the Motorola DROID XYBOARD here on Android Community, but today it’s making headlines thanks to its shiny new Ice Cream Sandwich update. Motorola has announced that it’s pushing Ice Cream Sandwich updates for both the DROID XYBOARD 8.2 and 10.1, so if you haven’t moved on to a different kind of tablet yet, you’re in for a treat. It isn’t quite the squishy, colorful candy treat that many would prefer, but delicious ice cream is almost just as good.

The updates should be available now, so all you’ll need to do is go into Settings > About Tablet > System Updates on your XYBOARD to start the update. For Android aficionados, nothing will be a mystery when it comes to the ins and outs of Ice Cream Sandwich, but just in case you’re a newcomer to Android 4.0, Motorola has posted a series of videos on YouTube that walk XYBOARD users through what they can do with their tablet once it’s running Ice Cream Sandwich.

When we say “series,” we mean 13 different videos, specifically. Most of them come in under a minute in length (with all but one less than two minutes long), and deal with a variety of different things. For instance, if you’re wondering how to navigate the Google Play Store on your XYBOARD, there’s a video for that. Wondering about the changes to the home screen and that notifications window? There’s a video for that too. The video that has been posted below is the first in the series, which gives a brief overview of what you can expect once ICS is running on your XYBOARD, but you can view the rest of the videos in the playlist by clicking here.

Of course, the XYBOARD is an aging device these days, so we aren’t expecting too many more updates once this roll out to Ice Cream Sandwich has been finished. Still, it’s nice to see the XYBOARD getting Ice Cream Sandwich, so we suppose we can’t really complain. Is the Motorola DROID XYBOARD still your go-to tablet, or have you since moved on to other devices?
