October 28th and the launch of the Verizon Droid by Motorola fast approaches, but according to the latest rumors, leaks and speculation there’s a lot more Android 2.0 intrigue to come before 2009 is out. BGR have previewed their Motorola Droid prototype and come away positively grinning; the smartphone has an excellent 3.7-inch display, highly usable keyboard and the best battery life and performance of any Android device they’ve tested so far.

Meanwhile there’s talk not only of an AT&T version of the Droid (aka the Motorola Sholes) thanks to an FCC listing for a UMTS WCDMA 850/1900/2100 and quadband GSM model, but of a whole Droid army arriving on Verizon. The HTC Desire is tipped to be released on November 6th as the Verizon Droid Eris, marking the start of not just one Droid handset but a brand name that will refer to the carrier’s entire Android line-up.
Over at SlashGear we’ve rounded up the latest spate of Droid rumors, so if you want to find out more about the AT&T Droid, HTC’s upcoming Android smartphone for Verizon, and how the whole range should fit together, check it out. Remember, we’ll be at Verizon’s October 28th Droid launch event to bring you all the details!

i mean that just looks bad..
no number keys either :/
2. I agree that the design is not very modern or appealing... but maybe after hands-on it will look and feel better. Motorola designs always seem to be edgy, but their builds are usually solid and heavy. (quality build, durable)
I personally like the design of the HTC devices better, and the tactile keyboard on 'The Droid' looks bad... I hate when QWERTYs take on a rectangular design and the letters are out of whack.
maybe put a trackball where the 4 touch sensitive buttons are and put those 4 touch buttons on the bottom lip

I mean, the device seems like it will be dirty... fast, Android 2.0, flagship VZW device. But there are some plain fugly aspects (D-pad, Gold accents on buttons, the "chin" is useless and the space could be utilized better, no offset keyboard... which is sort of a dealbreaker when it comes to tactile input)
yeah you can say that the iphones browser loads faster but thats because it only loads a certain amount of the page! look at the second video on the link and you can tell that the droid loaded the whole page and scrolls faster
