While the Samsung Nexus S may be the handset that everyone is talking about, there’s still room for the original Motorola Droid to get some attention. Especially as people wait for the stock Android device to get updated to the latest version of Android. Unfortunately, this latest update won’t bring the Gingerbread goodness to your device, but it will put your device to the latest version of Android 2.2, and that has to count for something.

The latest update, which is set to roll out as an Over the Air update starting just about now, is set to bring some nice refinements to your device. First and foremost, you’ll get the new, shiny Gmail application. And if you use the official Twitter app, that’s getting an update, too. You’ll also get a new and improved News & Weather application.
