The details around Google and Moto’s X continue to leak and the days grow closer to the rumored August 23th release date. At this rate we might know everything before Motorola actually confirms them with an official announcement. Earlier today we got our best look yet with Google’s own Eric Schmidt holding a sharp looking white Moto X, and now we’re getting more details about the customization options.

The first rumors of heavy customization and multiple color variations all arrived by one +Taylor Wiberly, former head of AndroidandMe, and today he’s delivering even more details. Taylor’s been accurate in the past with many leaks, especially Motorola, and now we’re learning plastic pastel colored custom backplates won’t be the only thing Motorola offers.

According to reports we’ll have over 16 custom colors, trim, and even engraving options right out of the gate from Google and Motorola, and now we’ve learned that will extend past the usual polycarbonate or plastic materials we’ve seen thus far. Taylor details we’ll have the option for custom colors of our choosing, wood battery covers, ceramic, and even metal if you’d like to pay a premium. Sounds impressive right? I wonder what the wait time will be.

Plastic is the default material, but wood is also an option that should be available at launch. Other materials like metals, ceramics, and fabrics should become available after the August 23rd launch.”

He then further explains that the folks from AT&T will have an exclusive of some sort, but he’s not sure what exactly that will be. Previously they’ve received exclusive rights to red Galaxy S III and S4 smartphones, so something similar would make sense.

The mention of fabrics is an interesting one. I wonder what type of durable fabrics Google will work up. We know carbon fiber will likely be an option as well. For now we’ll just have to wait and see. Between Verizon’s release date leak yesterday and Taylor saying the same August 23rd date this morning, things are looking good. Hopefully we learn more from Motorola themselves soon enough.
