Raise your hands if you set more than one alarm every morning. My morning goes something like this: alarm, snooze, alarm, snooze, sleep, alarm, and snooze. Give me 20 minutes before I actually get up. While the basic phone alarm may be enough, there are apps out there that can make life easier. Mornings don't have to be a drag. You just need that one alarm to make you up and about.
Microsoft Garage just released the Mimicker Alarm for Android. This new app adds games to the already challenging part of one's daily life: waking up. Three games are included that are guaranteed to wake you up. There's 'Express Yourself', 'Color Capture', and 'Tongue Twister'. These games are actually projects of Microsoft, featuring the latest APIs on speech, emotion, and computer vision.
This morning alarm clock app requires the user to mimic an action. Doing so will then dismiss the alarm. It's up to you now if you're going back to your bed and sleep some more. Actions that will be required by the app include some random stuff like say a word or phrase or take a selfie. It's that simple really. You just need to show that you are smart and be alert on your toes all the time.
Mimicker Alarm won't stop until you're up so you have to make sure you finish the game or else the alarm will ring again and annoy you endlessly. "Snooze or dismiss" will soon be "finish the game and get up".
Microsoft has teamed up with Project Oxford to add intelligence into the alarm app. Doing this will bring artificial intelligence(AI) for a more personalized experience.
